FAQ – frequently asked questions about the truck route planner
A truck route planner that is subject to costs is specifically made for trucks. It considers truck-specific factors during route planning. This includes, among others, vehicle height, axle load, tunnel restriction codes, low-emission zones, dangerous goods classes, weight and vehicle length.
That way, you get a tour in which the information regarding transport costs, delivery times and tour stops optimally match the individual vehicle profile of the truck.
With a free route planner or online navigation service such as Google Maps, this is different. Truck restrictions are not known there, as these services are meant for car drivers, cyclists and pedestrians. This creates uncertainty. Can the driver pass under the next bridge or underpass? Will he arrive in time?
The issue: Trucks are getting lost, drivers need to take detours and the entire route planning is incorrect–both regarding the delivery time and (toll) costs.
Yes, of course. Thanks to the complete integration in CarLo, all individually created vehicle profiles are directly available in CarLo inTOUR. This eliminates the need for duplicate data entry.
Apart from the individual vehicle data such as height, length, weight, number of axles and axle load, you can also set the passage of different countries or the avoidance of toll routes, ferries, motorways or routes with vignettes. If you use online map data, you can also include tunnel restriction codes and dangerous goods classes.
If you use CarLo inTOUR as a truck route planner, you have two options for map data:
Option 1: Offline map data. You buy this option once and update it, for example, after a few years. Soloplan also offers you the option of booking an annual update of the offline map data as part of the software maintenance.
Option 2: Online map data. This option allows for a precise and always up-to-date calculation of the ETA. Current traffic notifications such as traffic jams, roadworks and road-closures are also saved here.
Yes, however, only if you have bought the online map data. Then, the current traffic situation, traffic jams, roadworks, etc. are also included.
