Transport Management: CarLo for Air and Sea
The CarLo inAIR&SEA module caters for all the functions necessary for air and sea freight traffic, enabling consistent planning, monitoring and accounting of intermodal transports using just one transport management system.
The software and consulting firm Soloplan will release their new CarLo add-on inAIR&SEA at the transport logistic trade fair in Munich (9-12 May). This module is the latest edition to Soloplan’s extensive range of CarLo products for transport management. CarLo inAIR&SEA allows road, sea and air freight transports to be combined in one system. The benefits being convenience and increased efficiency in planning and accounting. CarLo is one of the very few transport management systems on the market that can combine intermodal traffic processes. Soloplan will be exhibiting at stand 505/606 in hall B2.
The new CarLo inAIR&SEA add-on caters for all the functions necessary for air and sea freight traffic. They include, for example, the complete list of UN locations (UN-LOCODES) providing data and address information on airports, road terminals and seaports. Dispatchers only need to enter the destination address when planning intermodal transports. CarLo inAIR&SEA will automatically split the order into its respective tour legs. Centralised evaluations from a customer and tour legs point of view as well as centralised or decentralised operative control of individual transport legs are only a few examples of the outstanding range of functions CarLo inAIR&SEA is capable of performing.
In addition to standard forms such as the MAWB (Master Air Way Bill), CarLo inAIR&SEA also provides the classic Bill of Lading, a standardised IMO declaration for dangerous goods, and many other customisable forms. Any relevant information can be recorded, evaluated and output in the form of individually suited reports. Wolfgang Heidl, CEO Soloplan, states that with the new CarLo inAIR&SEA module, more transparency and efficiency can be achieved in the planning, monitoring and accounting of intermodal transports.
The interface to the bidirectional Descartes platform allows the smooth exchange of data with partners in the air freight area. Direct IATA-compliant communication with airlines is also possible. The same applies to Order Entry: All common data fields such as ETA, ETD, Shipper, Consignee or Net and TACT Rates are available in CarLo inAIR&SEA.
The connection to bidirectional shipping platforms makes it possible to exchange data with partners in the sea freight area, to book sea containers or to retrieve status messages. Furthermore, CarLo inAIR&SEA also incorporates a direct connection to portals such as Dakosy or BHT and the automatic validation of container numbers. Beyond this, CarLo inAIR&SEA can be used to manage all sea freight-relevant transport details such as P.O.L. (Port of Loading) and P.O.D (Port of Delivery). These details are based on the UN-LOCODES, reliable master data sources as well as ship owner and ship information.
