Numerical genius and technology enthusiast? – This apprenticeship is perfect!

Precision, a sense of duty, motivation and interest in technology and IT–those are all characteristics that are advantageous for the apprenticeship as a clerk for IT-system management. The perfect way to join commerce and IT!

Pascal has been working for Soloplan since 2019 and originally got to know us at the Allgäu apprenticeship fair. The today 22-year-old completed his technical college internship, a part-time job during school and soon also his apprenticeship as a clerk for IT-system management at Soloplan.

“In secondary school, business administration was one of my favourite subjects. The internship at Soloplan then aroused my interest for IT. So, the mix of both IT and commercial work turned out to be the best choice for me,” explains the trainee.

In the beginning, the new “Soloplanners” of the software company from the Allgäu region are introduced to the company as well as to the innovative software CarLo step by step. Thanks to the onboarding plans and knowledge databases in the departments, everybody has the possibility to learn the basic knowledge for customer consultation. Additionally, their colleagues take the time for complex topics and help solving possible problems.

The course of the apprenticeship at Soloplan is not carved in stone from the start as the focus is on the perfect apprenticeship for each individual trainee. In order to obtain as much expertise and experience as possible, the trainees change department every six months. For this, the trainees’ wishes are considered and implemented as best as possible. The trainee spends the last 6 months before the final exam in the department in which he or she wants to work after his or her apprenticeship. The trainees learn the theoretical expertise in the first two years in the vocational school in Kempten and in the last year in the commercial school in Augsburg.

A normal working day in customer service begins at 08:00 for Pascal, and the tasks are very varied. With increasing experience, product knowledge and self-confidence, the scope of the support work continuously grows and includes software delivery, customer support and customer appointments for installations or updates of the software. The departments also always have a sympathetic ear for new ideas and support the implementation of own projects with advice and assistance.

In everyday work, there is nothing better for trainees than seeing happy customer faces after solving a problem and hearing their personal words of gratitude when evaluating the customer appointment.

How does Pascal describe the team work of the “Soloplanners”? He says: “It’s unique. Soloplan is a young team and you get in straight away. The communication with the superiors is on equal footing. In addition, there is an informal atmosphere in the entire company which strengthens the sense of community. On Friday nights, we enjoy coming together at the regular’s table at the Soloplan City Resort next door.”

It is clear why Soloplan is a top employer and has a lot to offer. The international company Soloplan has remained familiar in spite of its size. The personal contact with customers and colleagues coming from places as far away as South Africa is something special. The combination of personal contact and international business area is very appealing since, as a young person, you can learn how to operate safely in such an environment.

“I would recommend starting an apprenticeship at Soloplan because it has the perfect size. There are many different departments to look into. This makes the apprenticeship varied. We are never bored. The quality of the apprenticeship is very high. The advantage for vocational school is that, at work, you already obtain a lot of technical knowledge. The benefits range from flexitime for trainees to free entrance to the bigBOX Lounge,” adds Pascal for the newcomers.

According to the trainee, this commercial profession with its IT component is very future-proof: “The IT sector urgently needs people. The tasks are widely ranged and very diverse. Additionally, there is a need for an interpersonal component for explanation and training. This makes, in my opinion, this profession very future-proof. Specifically, Soloplan continuously develops CarLo for our customers and adds new functions. Thus, the work here never runs out.

At Soloplan, young people have very good chances to get employed after the apprenticeship. Pascal also already has fixed plans for his time after completing his apprenticeship.

“The best day during my apprenticeship was when I signed my employment contract for after my apprenticeship as I got employed as Customer Solution Manager which makes me very happy!”

We are still searching for young talents for the apprenticeship as a clerk for IT-system management (m/f/d) and for other professions for the training year 2025.
