Automechanika 2019: CarLo in South Africa – The Lion King of Logistics Software Solutions
This year’s event, which took place between 18 and 21 September, marked the sixth time that the automechanika trade fair was staged in Johannesburg, South Africa. With more than 600 exhibitors from more than 27 different countries, automechanika is one of the leading trade fairs for industry, commerce and logistics.
This year, Soloplan GmbH was also among the exhibitors and presented its transport management system CarLo. Under the slogan “CarLo – The Lion King of Logistics Software Solutions”, Soloplan GmbH introduced the advantages of the CarLo logistics software to around 12,000 visitors.
At the beginning of the year 2017, Soloplan GmbH opened a new branch office in Pretoria, South Africa. Within a very short time, not only the number of regional customers but also the local Soloplan team has grown considerably. Both potential customers and existing customers had signed up in advance for an appointment at the trade fair stand as well as for the specialist lecture on the topic of “Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence”.
The transport management system CarLo with its numerous add-on and this year’s trade fair highlight “Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence in Transport Planning” were met with great interest by the visitors.
The machine learning process in CarLo is as follows: Transport planning data, such as the shipment mode, date, departure, destination, loading items, loading weight and dangerous goods, is fed into the system and processed by an algorithm. The algorithm enables CarLo to “learn” the dispatcher’s behaviour and to create a model based on which future tours are planned automatically in accordance with the rules learned.
