Loading Units

Defintion

Loading units serve to store goods and to form loading entities for transport. The loading unit and its cargo securing protect the goods from damages due to tipping, rolling away or slipping during transport. Loading units are also called transport aids, load carriers, loading aids or storage aids.

What types of loading units are there?
Classic loading units are, for example, euro pallets, disposable pallets, containers, cages, boxes and containers for liquids (tanks, barrels).

Load safety

In order to secure the load correspondingly, small packaging units such as boxes are grouped to form a loading unit and stabilised with packaging such as stretch foil or bands. Liquids are stored in containers adapted to the cargo, e.g. tanks. This serves not only to secure the load and protect it from damage, but also to simplify the handling of the transport and storage.

Loading units and transport management
