Resource Management

Resource management contributes to the timely completion of a project and the best possible utilisation of all resources. The goal of it is an efficient and ideal use of a company’s resources. The term resources refers to all means required for the execution of a task. Within the scope of resource management, the resources are selected and allocated exactly to the individual tasks.

In logistics operations, resource management refers to means of transport as well as loading units, internal employees and external collaborators. However, in equal measure, machines, devices, rooms, tools or commodities can be resources. Bottlenecks can occur in logistics due to vacation/illness with staff resources, and due to workshop appointments/accidents with means of transport. By using a software solution, it is possible to recognise conflicts and bottlenecks early on in resource management end avoid them.

In Soloplan’s TMS CarLo, resource usage planning is an essential tool for the logistics sector that is already available in the standard version of the software. An included feature, among other things, is the timeline display of all resources including vacations, sick days, appointments and holidays. Planning vehicles or drivers is possible in CarLo via drag & drop.
