Bulk Cargo
The term refers to the transport of open, loose goods, which usually consist of granular or lumpy mixtures. In road traffic, open truck loaders are used to transport bulk cargo; in sea freight, special bulk-cargo spaces. It is usually moved via conveyor belts for transshipment and processing.
Bulk-cargo properties are, for example, the grain size and bulk density. Types include foodstuffs such as sugar, salt, and grain, as well as raw, construction and filling materials such as sand, road salt, ore or pellets.
Such transports can also be integrated in the TMS CarLo, for example, via tour planning based on geocoordinates, e.g. with construction sites, feedback of actual weights, and division of large orders (contracts) into individual truck loads.
