General Cargo
All goods that can be transported “in one piece” as a unit are described as general cargo. This can refer to a package, roll, pallet, barrel, or box. Examples are furniture, machines, assembly parts, and much more. With general cargo, a packaging unit in a consignment is described as a collo (plural: colli). It is usually transported in containers or, alternatively, in closed trucks, flatbed trucks or airplanes. The dimensions and weight of it can vary greatly.
For transport, it is usually summarised into so-called grouped loads to optimally utilise the space of the means of transport. The load is indicated by the number of colli. If general cargo is especially large or heavy, it is transported as a heavy load. The opposites are liquids or bulk cargo, i.e. open goods that are transported loosely.
