In logistics, reefer cargo refers to goods for which the adherence to specific temperature restrictions and requirements is the most important factor to guarantee that the value of the goods is preserved. A classic example for reefer cargo is food such as milk products or meat, but also pharmaceutical goods and other chemical substances.
What is important is that, in contrast to the name, reefer cargo also includes goods that mandatorily require a constant temperature. These can be refrigerated and frozen goods, or simply goods that need to be stored at a specific higher temperature. Some forwarding companies have specialised themselves in these so-called temperature-controlled transports.
The TMS CarLo also has many functionalities and reference customers in the area of temperature-controlled transports. Apart from defining goods-dependent temperature values in the TMS, it is also possible to integrate cross docks, and there are many standard integrations with common customers and portals.
