From Game Jam to the LoL tournament: Review of the past two semesters of the AK Gaming association of the University of Kempten.
Last year, the AK Gaming association organised a lot of exciting events and joint experiences. What makes the club special is not only the common hobby but also the unique energy with which the students gather to share their passion for games and set up creative events. We are proud of supporting this team spirit as sponsor, not only financially but also actively with our employees on site.
One highlight after the other–thrilling events
One of the regular and most popular events were the game nights. There, the participants could experience all kinds of entertainment–ranging from virtual reality (VR), board games to karaoke and retro games. We provided the gamers with delicious pizza to make the evening full of exciting matches and comfortable entertainment even more enjoyable. The participating Soloplan employees reported that there was a constant euphoric atmosphere with a great sense of community.
This feeling was strengthened again at the board game evening that took place in the game shop “Heldenschmiede”. Here, the students gathered in a cosy environment and spent the evening playing classic board games together.
For the creative thinkers among the students, the Game Jam took place where game developers gathered to develop their own game within little time. For example, one of the winners proudly presented a small platformer game in which a small penguin has to find its way back to its family with the help of the sun–all developed with Unity and packed with a great deal of creativity and lifeblood. The jury– including two Soloplanners–decided on the winner.
However, a lot of virtual blood flowed during the League of Legends (LoL) tournament in which we rewarded the winner with a small cash prize. Here, teams met in thrilling matches, and the gamers gave their all to be crowned true LoL champions.

What makes all these events special is the fact that they are organised by students for students. The AK Gaming association is a place where many like-minded people can gather, share their passion and set up something great together. This is not just about gaming, but also about the feeling of being part of a cool community, having fun, being creative and always picking up new ideas.
