The term toll (or truck toll) is a synonym for the so-called road use fee. It refers to customs duty for the use of different traffic structures, including roads, motorways, bridges or tunnels. This customs duty is conditional on the surrounding area; i.e. it is territorially bound.
The total amount of toll costs is calculated based on the distance a vehicle covers on traffic structures with toll. The costs per kilometre are invested into financing the infrastructure and offsetting the pollution caused.
In the context of transport planning, it makes sense to take the toll costs into account during quote creation. Ideally, a transport management system contains the current truck toll data for all countries and, with the different toll stops and tariffs, provides a basis for a simple and quick calculation of the incurred toll costs.
The CarLo inTOUR is a route planner for trucks module, which displays all relevant tours directly in a map. Apart from the route length and the trip duration, the comprehensive software also supports toll-cost calculation for Germany and the whole world.
