Freight Carrier

The freight carrier (haulier) undertakes to carry out transports for a customer. For this purpose, he concludes a contract of carriage/freight contract. This transport is usually carried out with the freight carrier’s own vehicles and drivers. In air freight, the freight carrier is called carrier. In sea freight, the freight carrier is called the shipper.

In colloquial language, forwarder and freight carrier are often used synonymously, but there are clear differences. According to the definition, the forwarder merely organises the transport. However, if the consignment is transported by the forwarder himself, he is freight carrier and forwarder in one. In this case, one would say that the forwarder transports in sef-entry.
